Orphaned and destitute children seek a refuge they can call home. 200 years ago the vision and unrelenting pursuit of one woman led to the establishment of South Africa’s first children's home.

The haven of potential provides a secure, friendly, home environment for boys and girls from a variety of communities, from as young as 4 to 18 years of age.

December 2009 and the Christmas holidays around the corner, PE&R sought to bring some Christmas joy to the home in the form of a rocking Christmas party. Many of the children would spend their holiday at the home as they are not able to spend it with loved ones or family.

PE&R teamed up with Tannie Bettie, housemother, to plan the surprise party for the children. PE&R broke bread with the Children’s Home as we were invited to supper with the children. Tons of fun was had after supper with games and treats provided by PE&R after supper. The highlight of the party had to be Santa handing out the gifts to the children. Great fun was had by everyone most importantly the children.
