To get the most out of your Lightbulb you should:

  • Acknowledge the receipt of suggestions within 48 hours.
  • Use topics or themes to spark ideas on the area you would most like to improve – whether cost savings, quality, productivity, work flow, revenue or employee morale.
  • Appoint someone to oversee the Lightbulb to ensure it is running as agreed.
  • Communicate regularly with staff about the Lightbulb. Give feedback about individual suggestions in private, especially if the idea is rejected.
  • Clearly define the rewards offered for suggestions made as part of the Lightbulb up front. This can include company branded merchandise, lunch with a manager or employee of choice, a quarterly or annual award dinner, or points towards products or shopping vouchers.
TIP:
People reviewing the suggestions must be willing to embrace change and should
be encouraged to ask "why not" instead of "why".
